Kevin Douglas Ross Joy was born on December 11, 1980 in Brownsville, TN. and he suddenly departed this earth on May 23, 2018.
He attended Indianopolis Public School from grades 1st -5th and returned to Nashville in 1991 and attended Metro Public Schools and graduated from Pearl Cohn High School in May 1999. He was very active at his high school and one of the highlights was being a member of the football team. He was an outstanding player for 4 years and was honored to be an alumni "Pearl Cohn Firebird" under Coach Fitzgerald leadership. He received his bachelor's degree in Speech Communication & Theater from Tennessee State University on May 5, 2007. Kevin worked in the hospitality industry serving and helping others.
He loved reading the Bible, poetry, TSU Big Blue Tigers, The Aristocrat Bands and the Tennessee Titians his favorite player was the late great Quarterback "Steve McNair". He loved his little brother Kameron and enjoyed playing x-box and domino's with him as well as other outdoor activities. He enjoyed classical music and grocery shopping - he found this to be a form of therapy and a nice way to escape.
He was baptized at an early age and truly knew the Lord. He loved his church family at MT. Olive Baptist Church where he attended there faithfully with his mother until his departure.
His paternal Great, Great Grandparents Mr. & Mrs. James and Lizzie Hill; Grandfathers Mr. George Thomas Ross and Mr. Eugene Joy Sr, all preceeded him in death.
He leaves behind to cherish the memories of his life his loving mother and brother; Ms. Jo Ann Ross and Kameron Ross of Nashville, TN; his father Mr. Douglas Edward Joy, of Jackson, TN; his Grandmothers; Mrs.Verma Lee Ross of Brownsville, TN and Mrs. Earline Joy of Bolivar, TN; his brothers; Mr. Anthony & (Tomeco) Scott of Bolivar, TN; Mr. Corey Taylor of Whiteville TN; Mr. Byron Joy and Mr. Dominick Joy of Houston, TX, Mr. Nicholas Johnson and Mr. Kevin Faulkner of Chicago, IL; Sister: Olivia Tate of Jackson TN; Uncles; Mr. Joe Hill of Indianopolis, IN; Mr. Damon Hill of Brownsville, TN; Mr. Eugene Joy Jr. of Bolivar, TN; Mr. Randy & (Shirley) Joy and Mr. Bruce Joy of Jackson, TN; Sergeant First Class Tracy & ( Esther) Joy of Ft. Stewart, GA, Mr. Darrell Joy of Washington, D.C.; Aunts: Ms. Betty Hill, Ms Florence Hill, Mrs. Verna & (Danny) Douglas all of Brownsville, TN; Ms Betty Smith of Memphis, TN; Mrs. Bunnia Faye & ( Rickey) Odom and Ms. Sheila Joy all of Bolivar, TN; Mrs. Brenda & (Terry) Poplar of Toone, TN; Mrs. Sandra & (Michael) Fanning and Ms. Carolyn Joy all of Nashville, TN. He leaves behinds a plethor of cousins and friends, whereas he had a special bond with Dr. Max Scott and their unconditional love for animals. Deacon Leonard Johnson for being that stand-up man during his journey on this earth. Deacons Randy Conley and Sylvester Jones for recognizing what he needed and when he needed it. And to a "Special, Special Granny Nana Gragg" for her sweetness and loving him with no limits and finding no faults in him.
