Alvin Douglas Wilson, age 68 transitioned from this earthly life to eternal life on Sunday, November 28, 2021.
Alvin was born September 21, 1953 to Yvonne Wilson and William Chambers in Nashville, TN. A 1972 graduate of North High School, he was a three-sport athlete and member of the band.
Alvin accepted Christ at an early age and later in life joined St. Matthew AME Church where he served as a Trustee, musician, custodian, van driver, landscaper and enjoyed working special events for the church.
He valiantly served his country by serving in the U.S. Army and later retiring from the Tennessee National Guard.
Alvin was an avid sportsman, few things brought him joy like fishing, golfing, hunting, camping, and being with family and friends. Everyone who knew Alvin knew he loved music and watching TSU and the Titans.
He was preceded in death by wife Deborah Slaughter Wilson, mother Yvonne Turner, and brother William T. Wilson.
Alvin leaves to cherish his memory, devoted companion Linda Bailey; father, Leon Turner; brothers, Desi Turner and Wendell (Carmen) Turner, William Chambers; sisters Vicky Caldwell, Shirley Griffin; stepmother Cora Pryor; devoted aunts and uncles; daughters Alvesia (Linwood) Hawkins, Deloris Slaughter, Tameka (LaShawn) Slaughter-Rembert, (Keesha Kinnard - deceased); son Timothy Slaughter; grandchildren Darick, Roger, Amiri, Imani, Desilas, De-Briana, Darriona, Deonna, Zury, Zawdie, Cameron, LaKeesha, LaTesha, Vernon, Charlisha, and Miracle; 16 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and very devoted friends and fellow golfers.
