Andrew Cauthen Sr.

Andrew Cauthen, 86 of Stovall, MS passed away Friday, September 14, 2013 at Singing River Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Moss Point, MS.
Andrew was born October 13, 1926 in Stovall, MS which is near Clarksdale MS to Verdie Ann and Henry Cauthen. Early on in life Andrew realized that sharecropping and cotton fields was not his destiny, his attempt at joining the military was short lived, so he persued music. The harmonica was his instrument of choice and he set out up and down the Mississippi Delta, St. Louis, MO and Chicago, IL time and time again playing the Blues along this circuit. He has a couple of recordings on the Adelphia Record Label. Andrew worked and retired from the St. Louis Housing Authority, he possessed a phenomenal work ethic. He married, purchased a home and had a host of children.
Survivors include his three sons, Tommy L. Cauthen of MS, Andrew Cauthen Jr. of IL, Jessie L. Cauthen of MO; Nine daughters, Ethel Easley of TN, Verdie Ann Wood of TN, Lucille Cauthen of TN, Renita Garrett of TN, Sherri Hartley of MO, Rosemary Money of MO, Lenora Cauthen of MO, and Lynn Cauthen of IL; 33 grandchildren, Debor’ah M. Cauthen of TN, Tommy L. Cauthen Jr. of TN, Phillip Cauthen of MS, Leonard Easley of TN, Darcinar Easley of TN, Vetria DeClue of TN, Adrienne Smith of TN, Laquita Ivory of TN, Zerrick Cauthen of TN, Renita S. Cauthen of TN, Lakeysa Cauthen of TN, Tamatha Cauthen of TN, Prentiss Cauthen of TN, Richard J. Garrett of TN, Ruby J. He was preceded in death by his parents, Verdie Ann and Henry Cauthen, his wives, Lillie Mae Thomas, Sally Money, Ruby Graham, and Jessie Mae Barnes, his children Henry Cauthen, Valerie Cauthen, Camerl Cauthen and his grandson, Jermaine Money.
