Anthony Ronald Birdsong, Sr. was born June 21, 1955 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late Roy David Birdsong, Sr. and Johnnie Lou Birdsong. He departed this life on the morning of March 27, 2022 at 10:31am. His stepson Donald Perry, Jr. proceeded him in death.
Ronnie professed a hope in Christ alongside his siblings at an early age with Greater St. John Missionary Baptist Church under the late Reverend Frank M. Spence.
Anthony, was lovingly known as “Tha Bird,” Ronnie, Tony, Papa Bird and Uncle Ronnie. He graduated from Stratford High School and joined the U.S. Armed Forces and served as a Military Police officer in the Army. Following his time in the Army, Ronnie was employed with the IRS and later joined the U.S. Postal Service where he retired after 29 years of service.
He was an avid fisherman, sports fan, song writer and musician that never passed up a chance to enjoy live music. And occasionally would be seen dancing to the oldies but goodies. Ronnie loved people and never met a stranger. He always had time for his family, friends and music.
Ronnie leaves to cherish his memories: Patricia, his wife; children, Leya (Germain) Joassin of Fort Lauderdale, FL, and Anthony R. Birdsong, Jr.; sister, Cynthia (Donald) Weakley, Sr.; brothers, Roy David (Wendolyn) Birdsong of New Orleans, LA, Benjamin Birdsong and Harry James Birdsong; stepson, Terrence Leon (Djuanvonda) Williams of Grand Prairie, TX; aunt, Olivette Bailey Smith; uncle, James Gilbert, Sr.; grandchildren, Janiya, Germari and Journi Joassin; devoted niece, Johnnetria (Iran) Meadows and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
