Age 34, of Nashville transitioned from this earthly life to eternal life on Thursday, May 19, 2016.
Antonio Tarean Weatherspoon was born March 12, 1982 in Nashville, TN to his devoted mother, Janet Lavender and was the middle child of five siblings. Antonio was an unusually spiritual child and was known for carrying a large Bible around, wearing church suits, and cowboy boots to school beginning at the age of six or seven years old. He attended elementary school at Warner Elementary school and then moved on to East Middle school where he was actively involved in the chorus team and writing team and won several awards.
Antonio was a natural leader during his time in middle school. He ran track and was a member of the student council. He once called a meeting of all the East Middle School students during the school day. The teachers and principal were wondering where all the students were and found them all sitting in Antonio’s meeting when they were supposed to be in class.
Antonio attended high school at Stratford and East High School where his favorite sport was basketball. He was selected as basketball MVP at Shelby Community Center and enjoyed spending his time after school teaching his little brother, Vic how to play. Antonio’s first job was at the Spaghetti Factory and he was proud of his first car, a blue Geo Metro, which he used to drive to work after school.
Antonio love the TV show Married with Children. He would often lock his family out of the room while he watched Al and Peg and the rest of the Bundy family. He also loved to sing. He was a fan of Kirk Franklin music and the song, “I Believe I can Fly”. He was actively involved in the music ensemble and the choir at Bethesda Original Church of God and was also a dedicated member of the Junior Usher board.
Antonio was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Maggie Britton and Jeaneatta Tibbs; grandfathers, Ether Weatherspoon and William Tibbs Sr.; great aunts, Deviola Fisher, Annetta Burns, Margaret (Weedie Baby) Fisher; great uncle, John Fisher and uncle Terry Milan.
He leaves to cherish his memory, a loving mother and step father, Janet (Richard) Lavender; father, William Tibbs Jr.; sisters, Lashonda (Bear) Murphy and Princess (K.D.) Dardy; brothers, Victor (Larosha) Ford, Joshua Tyson; nieces, Destiny Murphy, La`Ryssa Murphy, Victoria Jones; nephew, Jaylen Jones; aunts, Cynthia (Robert) Sargent, Jacqueline Milan, Barbara (Paul) White, Mary (Clint) Williams, Faye Fisher, Sharon Fisher, Paulette Coleman and Angela Young; great uncle, James (Red) Fisher; uncles, John (Violet) Bennett, Lorenzo (Cheryl) Bennett, Donald (Angela) Corder, Anthony Tibbs; devoted cousins, Tiajuana Cabell and Tianeshuia House, and a host of other relatives and friends.
