Barbara Gail Hughes

Barbara Gail (Honey Child) Hughes was born June 6, 1957 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to the union of Jesse and Ora Dee Palmer. Her soul was called to rest on July 21, 2016 at her residence in Old Hickory, Tennessee.

Barbara accepted Christ at an early age at Greater Christ Temple, in the Hopewell community. She was educated in the Metro Davidson County schools.

Barbara enjoyed cooking and cleaning for others. She was a great caregiver for her family, and she did it very well. Barbara had a very loving and caring spirit. She saw the good in everyone. Barbara loved music and watching movies.

Barbara (Honey Child) was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Kenyetta Hughes.

Honey child leaves to cherish her memories her devoted mother, Ora Dee Palmer; devoted daughters, Yolanda (Frederec) Bender and Kenya Hughes; son, Quenton Hughes; grandsons, DeMarkel, Tobias (Destiny) LaDarriaus, Dedrick Palmer and Jason Bender; great niece, Tatyanna Davis; siblings, Patricia Davis (Joe) Blackshear Douglas and Jeffery Palmer; great grandchildren, Mariah, Miah and Eithan Palmer; devoted cousins, Shearon Martin, Zurii (Cortney) Stines; uncles, Melvin Sr., and James (Betty) Martin; aunts, Mary (William) Barksdale and Gladys Doming; nieces, Bettonya Davis and Jasmine Lewis; nephews, Walter Davis, Jr., Gayland Lewis, Douglas Jr., and Lamar Palmer; devoted friends, Stanley Boles, Benita Fay Garretson and Cherl Hewit;
