From then on he tapped into his southern passion of cooking and pursued a career for over 17 years with Piccadilly Cafeteria as their head baker. Bernis and his wife often enjoyed cooking together and planning meals for the family. He was an avid sport fan (he was a diehard Cowboys fan), treasured fishing, loved to debate current and past events with anyone who would listen.

Bernis was a hardworking man who took pride in loving, teaching and caring for his family. If you ever visited his home you couldn’t help but notice the genuine love he had for his children and the love they had for their father. Even through hard times Bernis vowed to KEEP his family together no matter what he did. Family was one of Bernis greatest loves. If you needed him he would come to your rescue no matter what.

We the family thank God for giving us the opportunity to have shared a great husband, an amazing father, a fantastic brother and a loving friend. God knew that you needed rest and he granted that blessings.

Family, we share a unique history, a powerful bloodline and the wiliness to do what is right. There will be time when we don’t agree, there will be times that we separate but always remember that God is the author and finisher of our faith. It is “He” who gives the increase and the decrease. WE don’t know where, when or where this life will end but we know that there is life after death. We shall see our love ones again in a new body not made by hand and there will be no sickness, sorry or death. We shall live forever. Until that day arrive …. We will continue to praise the Lord for all the marvelous works he alone has done in our lives. We Are Family!!
