Betty Ruth Dean was born February 17, 1940 in Stevenson, AL. She was the sixth child of Ora and Percy Henry Dean, Sr. Betty was happiest in the company of family and friends joking and kidding about the highs and lows of life. She enjoyed traveling, spending time with friends, and road tripping to the casinos.
Betty never met a stranger and was Mom to several in the Nashville community. She had six children of her own in addition to the many that she nurtured – Ronald Dean, Delores Brown (John), Valerie Sanderford (Ervin), Robert Tyrone Ezell (Renee), Andre Dean (Cathy), Andrea Johnson (Billy). Her wonderful grandchildren whom she loved dearly are: Kesha, Ursula, Dawn, Johari, TyRon, Narquesia, Kristie, Kimberly, Robert, Andre, Evan, Kennedi, Walter and De’Andre. Her beloved great-grandchildren are Tquanna, Timesha, Stephon, Jocelyn, Christoper, Eric, Erica, Abdul, Ikea, King, Shyy, Kierra, Alteisha, Keauna, Deauna, Kyrin, Jada, Chauncey, Chase and several great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Betty attended Cameron High School and worked several years for the State of Tennessee and Metro Davidson County Government. Her dedication to her work and students at TN Preparatory School was impactful as she helped to change the lives of young people that have been left in the custody of the state.
Betty was a trusted and loyal friend and always lively and fun to be around. She was a long time member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church and more recently a dedicated member of Watson Grove Baptist Church. She was a phenomenal woman, strong mother, loving grandmother, loyal friend but most of all she was a believer in Christ and the power of God’s saving Grace.
