Carolyn L. Burns Patterson

September 19, 1958 — August 24, 2021

Carolyn L. Burns-Patterson aka “Momma C” was born September 19, 1958 to Raymond Burns, Sr. and Sadie Frances (Bowen) Burns in Nashville, TN. She received her education through the Metropolitan Davidson County Public School system. She graduated from Hillwood High School in 1977.

She confessed her faith at an early age and confessed Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at Burns Tabernacle Primitive Baptist Church. She loved serving the Lord in numerous ways throughout her life, most notably from the choir stand at Westwood Community Missionary Baptist Church under Rev Edward Anderson. She loved to lead favorites such “You Better Mind” and “Work it Out”

Carolyn's passions included taking care of others. She took care of all ages during numerous types of employment, most notably as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at Trevecca Center for Rehabilitation and Healing. Carolyn also took care of numerous children while following her daughter and son-in-law at military bases all over the world. Another one of her passions was traveling. Carolyn lived in Texas, Guam, Wyoming and Tennessee. She visited the Bahamas, New Orleans, Indianapolis, Mexico and Atlanta. All you had to say was “let’s go” and she would respond “Lemme get myself together real quick” “Lemme get my purse and my stick” The sun set on the life of Carolyn Burns-Patterson, August 24, 2021.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond Burns Sr. and Sadie Frances Burns; son, Alvin Tolbert Patterson Jr.; sister, Gladys Burns; brother, Reginald Burns.

Carolyn leaves to cherish her memory four devoted children, Amelia Patterson, Aletra (Fredrick) Stewart, Rajni Rouse and Andrew (Tierra) Patterson, Sr.; thirteen grandchildren, Kadeidra, Timmeisha, Omari (Denasia), Kameisha, Jaylen, Cedric, Dedric, Fredrick, Omarion, Imani, Sadie, Andrew Jr, Jeremiah, Skylar; four great grandchildren, Patience, Payden, JaCori, Jalani; brothers, Raymond (Martha), Ronald (Wanda), Raphael (Fran), Racardo (Leslie); Sister/Cousin Latender Eke; a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends all over the world. Devoted friends include: Alvin T Patterson, Sr., Joe Patton Jr., Lisa Kanakrieh.
