Charles Edwin Jones transitioned to eternal life on Thursday, January 7, 2021.
Preceded in death by parents John Felix and Annie Belle Jones, brother John Jones,
and sister, Maria Jones.
Charles was born in Rockwood, TN on November 12,1942. After the family’s relocation
to Nashville, he attended and graduated from Pearl Senior High School in 1960. He attended Tennessee State University for two years before enlisting in the US Navy.
Upon Honorable discharge from the military, he completed his course work and received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Sociology in 1971. He was employed with Metropolitan
Government (Model Cities and Metropolitan Action Commission). He retired from
The Metropolitan Action Commission in 2004 with over thirty years of service.
It was while he was working at Model Cities that he met his future wife. Charles
and Rosalind were married on June 12, 1976. It was after this union that he joined Gordon Memorial United Methodist Church. To this union, two daughters were born,
Thea Nicole and Cynthia Michelle in addition to son, David Eston Jones.
He was an avid “ gym rat” who loved to socialize and always encouraged family members to come and join him at the “Y”. His other love was auto mechanics.
Charles was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle.
He leaves to cherish his memories, devoted wife of 45 years Rosalind, children:
David (Abayomi) Jones of Memphis, TN, Thea Jones of Nashville, TN and Cynthia
Jones, Silver Spring, MD.; brother, Austin(Patricia) Jones, Madison, TN; sisters,
Brady Jones, Gladys Jones, Marilyn Lewis, Georgia Harris, Nashville,TN.; four
grandchildren, DeMonya Jones, Akil J. Stovall, Deondre Payne and Amesa Tidwell; two great grandchildren, Santana and Kyree and a host of other relatives and friends.
There will be a Walk through/viewing Tuesday, January 12th from 2:00pm-5:00pm. Visitation Wednesday, January 13th from 10:30am-11:30am with funeral to follow at Highland Hills Funeral Home, 2422 Brick Church Pike.
