Charlie Berry, Jr., known as “SPLO” was born in Tallahatchie, Mississippi on September 7, 1935 to Charlie Sr and Alberta Berry. Larry was one of six children. He was joined in Holy matrimony to Annie L. Dixon on June 4, 1955 and was blessed with seven children. He moved to Nashville in 1964 where he found a job working in the Bakery, where he work several years. He also worked for Werthan Bage and American Ledge for a number of years, before landing a job with Harsco Industrial IKG, where he stayed till he retired.
Charlie is preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Sr and Alberta Berry; two brothers, Archie and Jo (sugar) Berry; one sister, Tiny Berry; daughter, Lucy D. Berry; son, Arthur L. Berry.
He leaves to cherish his memories: a wife, Annie Dixon-Berry; daughters, Stella (Sam) Davis, Charlie Mai (Robert) Jackson, Velma (Earl) Crawford; sons, Arthur J. Berry-Muhammad and John Berry, Jr; stepson, Nathan (Bethany) Comer; sisters, Lucille Berry-Jones of Millington, TN., and LeeAnna Berry-Childs of Piola Illinois; grandchildren, Anthony Berry, LaQuiton Berry, LaToya “Nikki” Davis, Sharon Austin, Samuel M. Davis IV, Tyrese Porter, Kelvin Smith, and Ashley Montgomery; two step grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; six sisters-in-law, and two brothers-in-law; a host of nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
