Charlie Clayton (Champ) Stevenson entered into life on May 27, 1953 in Ardmore, Alabama to Moree Stevenson and Ethel Mae Stevenson. He transitioned from this earthly life to eternal rest on Monday, April 10, 2017 at Centennial Medical Center.
Professing his faith in God at an early age, he was baptized in Giles County. He was a former member of the Jefferson Street Baptist Church.
Charlie received his education in Giles County and Davidson County schools. He was employed by the State of Tennessee and Roy T. Goodman. Charlie was married in Holy Matrimony to Clarissa Elaine Smith on August 8, 1997. (19 years)
Charlie loved his family. He was a good kind hearted person who enjoyed cooking, fishing and watching sports. One of his favorite teams was the Tennessee Titans. He will be definitely missed by all who knew him.
Charlie was preceded in death by her parents, Moree Stevenson and Ethel Mae Stevenson; brother, Davidson Stevenson; and sister, Jennifer Claybrook Stevenson.
He leaves to cherish his memories, loving and devoted wife, Clarissa (Punkin) Stevenson; daughter, Nakia D. Stevenson; son, Mathias Smith; grandson, Mathias Smith, Jr; sister, Linda Bledsoe, Mary Jones and Cassie Stevenson; brother, Chucka Covington; aunts, Bessie Lou Holt and Fannie Mae Holt; mother-in-law, Dorothy Waddy; sisters-in-law, Jacquline Griffin and Dorothy Griffin, Sharonda Howse, Chasity Howse and Leslie (Leon) Gardner; brothers-in-law, Howard Griffin and Donnell Howse; a host of family and friends; devoted friends, Darrell Rucker, Shonda and Jeremiah Smelly, Michael Hendrick and Big Tim.
