Chester Eugene Grizzard, was born January 19, 1952 to the late Ephriam, Jr. and Margaret Grizzard in Nashville, Tennessee. On February 27, 2019 he made the transition from his earthly home to his heavenly home. He professed Christ at an early age uniting with First Baptist Church Rock City under the pastorship of the late Reverend Thomas E. Sweeney, Sr.
He received his education in the Nashville public school system.
Chester was formerly employed with Freeman Gravel Company as a truck driver for many years and in recent years was an over the road driver for Venture Trucking Company from which he retired in 2017.
Chester was a kind hearted person and would do anything for anybody when asked. He was quiet spoken and liked to laugh. Chester loved cooking and loved to barbecue for the family. He loved fishing and also enjoyed the sport of football especially the Los Angeles Rams. He loved spending time with all his grandchildren and shared a special bond with his first great granddaughter, Kamyrah, and they looked forward to spending every weekend together. Chester will be truly missed by his loving family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Howard and Sterling Gizzard, paternal grandparents Ephriam, Sr. and Mary Grizzard and maternal grandparents, Eugene and Fannie Stafford. He leaves to cherish his memory two devoted sons, Eric Eugene (Cheryl) and Christopher Jerome (Ashely) Grizzard, his queen, faithful and loving companion, Olivia Grizzard Carruthers, three sisters, Robbie Grizzard, Shirley Grizzard Maxey, Evangeline Bond, one brother, Ephriam Grizzard, III, twelve grandchildren, Eric Jr., Isiah, Sydney, Simone, Kristian, Alexis, Myiah, Isaiah, Jalen, Jadyn, Harlem and Camille Grizzard, three great grandchildren, Kamyrah, Aubree and Jacoby Grizzard, one aunt, Mattie Grizzard, one sister in law, Joanne Grizzard and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
