Clarence Maurice Holt, a ectionately known as “Decey” and “Humphrey” was born on May 15, 1952 in Nashville (Davidson County) Tennessee to the late Clarence Nathaniel Holt and Jennie Petway Holt.
He was educated in the Davidson County Public School System and attended Tennessee State University in Nashville, Tennessee.
Clarence professed a hope in Christ at an early age, and was a faithful member of the Clayborne Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorage of the Reverend Jerry Brooks until his peaceful transition on February 15, 2019.
He was united in holy matrimony to Debra Patterson in 1980, and they were the proud parents of three children.
Clarence found his niche in the plumbing industry. A er working for sev- eral companies, he stepped out on faith and opened his own business, Holt’s Plumbing and Drain Cleaning. He operated as a small business owner in the Metro Nashville area for over 30 years.
Clarence was a sel ess person who loved and supported his family unconditionally.
He leaves to cherish his memories a devoted son, Clarence Marcus Holt; a loving mother, Jennie Petway Holt; devoted sister and brother, Kathy H. Register (Lithonia, GA) and Charles L. Holt (New York, NY); four wonderful grandchildren, Jeron Dodson, Dante Basham, Kennedy Davis and Na’Jae Holt; two daughters, LaShawn (Wallace) Barber and Alicia Holt; a devoted nephew, Anthony (Malikah) Register; two aunts, Mil- dred Petway and Doris Petway; devoted friend, Danny Sadler; devoted childhood friend, Robert Davis; devoted cousins, Carolyn Smith, Patricia Berry, Sandra Drew, Dr. Susan West, Sonya Edwards and Andre Holt; cousins, Marilyn Petway, Kevin Petway, Maurice Petway, Gloria Carter, John Robert Holt, Jr., Shelia Gill, Judy Daniels and Milton Holt; a host of other family members and friends.
