Clyde Dotson was born December 16, 1939 to the late Benjamin and Frances Dotson in Nashville, Tennessee. He quietly slipped away surrounded by family on March 1, 2017. He was preceded in death by brothers, George, Jack, Gentry, Ben Dotson and sister, Mary Frances Dotson Sims.
He was a founding member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Southfield, Michigan in 1982 with twenty other members. He was baptized at an early age and attended several other churches in the Nashville area.
Clyde attended Nashville Public Schools. He was employed at an early age with Nashville Ready Mix for more than 15 years. While at Ready Mix he became a member of 327 Teamster and went on to become a steward. He later moved to Detroit, Michigan where he worked for B&V Trucking Company, of Wixom, Michigan. After returning to Nashville, Tennessee he drove for Star Trucking Company as an over the road driver where he retired.
Clyde leaves to mourn, his wife, Mary; five children, Olivia Evon (James) Morrow, Clyde Darnell (Vanessa) Dotson, Charles W. Dotson, Solona B. Corder and Kevin Williams; two step-children, John Nelson Jr., and Kelly Nelson; 12 grandchildren, Brian (Kendra), Johnny (Tan) Dotson, and Lereco Abston, Tawanda Newsom, Shanel Carney, Jazmine Hill and Darneisha Abston, Kristina Blackwell, Alexis Williams, Marley, Sydney and Avery Nelson; 25 great grandchildren; one sister, Beulah Mai Dotson; sisters-in-law, Ida Mae, Betty and Dawn Dotson; devoted cousin, Eunice Matthew; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
