David Lawrence Cheatham was born on August 4, 1949 to the union of the late Ernest Lee Cheatham, Sr and the late Flavel Marie Stovall.
David served in the United States Air Force and graduated from McGavock High School. He was a dedicated son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He was a hard worker who enjoyed working and helping others. David was employed with Vallens where he worked as a tow motor driver. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of Bishop Joseph W. Walker, III.
David loved his family. His wife Jenice was the center of his joy. Whenever, you were in their presence you could tell there was love. He tended to her during her illness and pampered her every day. It gave him much joy to see her happy. David was never afraid to work hard for his family. He went to work sick and tired but never with regret, because it was what he did, thinking of his family first. He was an example of love, peace, joy and life for all his family, friends, and even strangers he met. He many times would give money from his pocket to people in need or say a kind word of encouragement to lift their spirits. Momma said he was God’s gift to her and to us as well.
A few of the things David loved that we will hold dear are: chocolate and I mean he loved chocolate, Gatlinburg, the beach, sports cars, football, basketball, his love of dancing, Keith Sweat, Earth, Wind, and Fire, and a recently dedicated song to his wife Jenice “Adore You” by Harry Styles.
David departed this life on Friday, March 5, 2021. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Jenice Cheatham of 49 years, his children David Q.
