Delores J. Duncan was born September 10, 1937 in Nashville, Tennessee. Her parents James and Mary Elizabeth Taylor. Both of whom preceded her in death. She entered into peaceful rest on Saturday February 27, 2016.
Delores became a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church at an early age. She was a faithful communicant member of St. Pius X Catholic Church until her transition from this earthly life. Her theme in life has always been "if I can help somebody as I pass along this way, then my living shall not be in vain"...Truly, Ed her life has not been in vain. Her outreach to people in general and the love & devotion to her family in particular have been a tower of hope, strength and inspiration. First and foremost, she praised and thanked the Lord for His grace and mercy, His healing power and love beyond all human understanding.
She was a devout member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. She served in the Eucharistic ministry and St. Pius X Women's Club.
Delores enjoyed traveling & sight seeing. Her adventurous travels included visiting family and monumental sites.
Friends of Delores know she loved working and volunteering in her community. She served as a member of AARP, Whites Creek Community Club and The Council on Aging of Greater Nashville.
Delores was employed with Vanderbilt University Hospital where she retired after 30 years of dedicated service.
Throughout her life she loved shopping, cooking/ baking, sewing, canning and creatively designing floral arrangements and other arts and crafts.
She treasured family gatherings, especially with her grandchildren.
Delores will be greatly missed and leaves to cherish her loving children, Clarence L., W. Leonard Jr. (Sheryl), Anton (Amy) Duncan, Chevene Duncan-Herring (George) and Trevonda Smith (Henry); grandchildren, Eric (deceased), Trevonda Tussie, Tangela, Clarence Jr., Sydney, Tiarra, Nicole, Clarence DeAndre, Jaylan, Jalyssa, Cayden, W. Leonard III, Max, Montavious, Dana, Hanna, Amanda Duncan, Verneda and Quinton Herring, SheLena Trimble, Cheree Smith and a host of great-grandchildren; sister, Barbara Taylor; nephew, Michael (Eula) Taylor; niece, Valerie (James) Harrison; great grand niece, Jayla; cousin, Leroy Kennedy; other relatives and friends.
Family will receive friends Thursday, March 3, 2016 from 1-7 p.m., at Highland Hills Chapel.
Visitation Friday, March 4, 2016 from 12 noon until 1 p.m, with funeral to follow at Highland Hills Chapel, 2422 Brick Church Pike.
