Dorothy Virginia Harris-Fleming entered this earthly life June 2, 1948 to the late John A. Harris, Jr., and Emma V. Rudolph Harris in Davidson County. Dorothy entered into eternal rest Saturday, May 28, 2016.
Dorothy was educated in Davidson County School System (Pearl High School) and Cosmetology School. She was saved and baptized at Inner City Church of Christ.
She retired from the Board of Education as a custodian in May of 1996. In her spare time she like to sing, dance, play music and do crossword puzzles.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her siblings, Gloria, James, Cordell, Ripetta and Barrington; nephew, Darryl Harris.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted children , Joseph P. Harris, Barbara Harris, Cordell Clark and Arlindo Clark; Godson, Kelvin Burke; 14 grandchildren, and a host of great grandchildren; brothers, John (Virgetta) Edward and Leroy (Emma) Harris; sister, Irene Smith; 2 devoted nieces, little Barbara Harris-Johnson and Fphlonda Harris-Pinkerton; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; devoted friends, David Hendrix (Coon), Mark Shand, Martha Cartwright, Shaleeta McAdoo (little girl) cupcake, Michelle K., Eddie Strickland, and Lorrett; a devoted nephew, Quincy Smith.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, June 4, 2016 from 11:00 am til 12:00 noon with A Celebration of Life service to follow at Highland Hills Chapel, 2422 Brick Church Pike with Pastor James Buchanan, eulogist.
