Dorothy Jean Bridges Lawson, affectionately known as Jeanne, peacefully passed away on Friday, May 26, 2023. Born on July 29, 1942, in Nashville, Tennessee, she was the beloved daughter of the late Hal E. Bridges and Dorothy C. Bridges. She was preceded in death by Ronald R. Lawson, Sr., and her son, Rodney H. Lawson.
Jeanne dedicated her career to teaching, serving as an esteemed educator in the Nashville Public School System and various educational systems. Her passion for education positively influenced the lives of countless students, leaving an indelible mark on their journeys.
She is survived by her four children, Ronald R. Lawson, Jr., Lynn M. Lawson, Lisa Lawson Scott, and Lori V. Lawson. She is also survived by her sister, Patricia Bridges Armstrong; grandchildren, Jordan R. Scott-Ruiz, Robert B. Scott (Bennett), William A. Scott (Ashton), Solomon Bradford, Daniel Bradford, Benjamin Bradford, Matthew Bradford, Nia Hoskins, Roderick Lawson, Anthony Lawson, and Heavan Raymer-Holt; great-grandson Kairo G.Bradford; aunt, Frances "Lois" C. Thompson along with a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Friday, June 9, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. also at Highland Hills Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, in the serene and sacred Garden of Our Lord, located at 1428 Elm Hill Pike, Nashville, TN 37210.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Nashville Public Education Foundation, a nonprofit organization that removes barriers to student success by advocating for change, promoting excellence and innovation.
