Elijah Patton age 91, of Nashville transitioned from this earthly life to eternal life on Saturday, November 8, 2014. Survived by loving family & friends. Complete notice later.
Elijah Patton was born June 3, 1923 to Oscar and Nancy Patton, both of whom preceded him in death.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda August 30, 1971 and granddaughter, Tonya May 5, 2012.
Elijah was educated in the Davidson County School System. He served in the Armed Services from 1941 – 1945. He was employed at Redi-mix Cement Co., Bill’s, Lewis and Kennedy Cab Companies. Elijah retired from Producers Transport Company in 1988. Mr. Patton was a member of Olivet Baptist Church in his earlier years.
He leaves to mourn his passing, and cherish his memories a loving daughter, Carla Leavette (Michael) Hamlett; grandchildren, Lamont, Jackie, Michelle, Marvin, and Eric; eight great-grandchildren; very devoted nephews, Charles, Rufus and John; a very devoted friend, Katherine and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends
Thers’s an open gate at the end of the road
Through which each must go alone;
and there is light we cannot see; our Father claims his own
Beyond the gates our loved one
Finds happiness and rest;
And there is comfort in the thought that a loving God knows best
