Mrs. Ella J. Swanson was born on March 8,1937 in Nashville, TN to parents Luther and Hattie Couch. She transitioned this life on March 31, 2021. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at a young age and was baptized at the First Baptist Church in East Nashville. She was educated in the Nashville school system. She enjoyed music, her favorite show “The Golden Girls” and being with her family who loved and cherished her. She will be dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband Walter Swanson, daughter Theresa Phillips, son James Swanson, sisters Gladys Wheeler, Georgia Ray and Jean Cowan, grandson Kenneth Jones and great-grandson Daylen Swanson.
Those left to cherish her memories are daughters, Marva Hemphill, Minister Deborah Swanson and Donna Swanson; son, Walter Crook; grandchildren, Brandell (Surgena) Swanson, Torria (Jessie) Woodard, Robin (Semeka) Swanson, Kenyatta (Carissa) Swanson, Troyce (Chasity) Beck, Cherita (Kyara) Jones,Theresa Swanson and Lakesha Taylor; great-grandchildren, Alexis Harris, Nathaniel and Breonna Wilson, JaDerek Woodard, DeShawn and DeAnthony Swanson, Ella Beck, Makhi, Mason and Mikell Johnson; sisters in law, Peggy Gilliam, Linda Martin and Mary Swanson; brother in law, Michael Swanson; devoted nephews, James (Currie) Cowan and Floyd McFarland Sr.; devoted friend, Everett Merritt; a host of great nieces and nephews and the Swift Tabernacle Baptist Church family.
