Eric D. Smith was born on May 17th, 1957 to Elva Smith-Brooks in Nashville, TN. Eric was baptized at a very young age at Dixon Memorial United Methodist Church, 1111-Buchanan St. Nashville, TN. He attended Nashville Davidson County Public school. Eric Smith served as an Usher, Deacon, and an Armor Bearer for Pastor Walter Phillips Jr. at Christ Temple Church in Madison, TN. In 2005 Eric married Annie Davis and they spent 18 years together. He worked with various companies including: Metro Action Commission, BFI, and The Tennessean Newspaper. Affectionately known as Mr. Eric, he joined University School of Nashville in 2005 as a bus driver and had been there for 18 years.

Eric is survived by his loving wife, Annie Davis-Smith; stepsons, Larry Davis, Meekahl Davis and Scott Davis; mother, Elva Smith-Brooks; cousins, Gloria Lockridge, Shirley Gross, Sandra Gross, George Gross, Erica Gross, and Harry Hagewood Jr., and many other family members and friends
