Ethel Geraldine Kennedy Hughes was born August 2, 1962 in Nashville, TN. She was the third child of the late Gerald Kennedy, Sr. and Gracie Kennedy-Vaughn. Her life on earth was suddenly and tragically ended September 9, 2022. She was affectionately known as “Geri” “Geraldine” “MeeMaw” “Gerdine” “Auntie Gerdine” or just plain “Auntie” “Momma”.
She accepted Christ in her life at an early age and united with Westwood Baptist Church University Center. She received her education in the Metro Public School System and was a graduate of Maplewood High School.
She was a jack of all trades, including supplier of turnip greens and home cooked plates delivered, but mostly focused her skills on home health care. Her heart was in home health care as a caregiver and will be missed dearly.
Everyone who loved her knew that Geraldine had a one of a kind personality. She was her own person, independent of what anyone else felt or thought. She did what she wanted and felt the need to do. She loved her family and would defend them at every turn. She could be fun, funny, feisty, sentimental, or unpredictable leaving you shaking your head in disbelief by certain actions, but she was always there to lend a helping hand. She had a heart of gold. That was her way and signature.
