Ezekiel Leavell, Jr., was born on November 10, 1953 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late Ezekiel Leavell, Sr., and Josephine Leavell Carter. He transitioned peacefully from this life during the afternoon hours of May 31, 2018 at VA Medical Center (MICU) Nashville, Tennessee.
Ezekiel attend Nashville public schools, he enlisted in the U. S. Army in 1972. He lived in many places, including Korea. Ezekiel enjoyed sharing military stories, cooking, talking trash, family life and the Washington Redskins. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He leaves to cherish his wife of 31 years, Joyce Gibson Leavell; devoted mother, Josephine Leavell Carter of Nashville, TN; two daughters, Natalie Levavell of Washington, DC, Natalic Leavell of Hamlet, NC; one son, Ezekiel (Zeke) Leavell, III of Rockingham, NC; three sisters, Marie Jackson, Elizabeth Harper (Kenneth) both of Nashville, TN., and Mary Leavell of Tulsa, OK; three brothers, Louis Caruthers (Tanya), William Caruthers, and Larry Leavell (Yolanda) of Nashville, TN; two aunts, Seclonia Morris of Jacksonville, AL, Doris Jenkins of Cleveland, OH., Maxie Caruthers, Jr., of Nashville, TN., and Doris Jenkins, of Cleveland, OH; three uncles, Walter Leavell, of Cleveland, OH, Maxie Caruthers, Jr., of Nashville, TN., and Henry B. Caruthers (Irene) Battle Creek, MI; eleven grandchildren, Quan, Dajuan, Natalia, Natazia, Diamonte, Chasity Leavell, of Washington, DC, Ezekiel Q. (Zeke) Leavell of Durham, NC., Brayanna Short, of Rockingham, NC, Da`Shaun, Niasia, and Malia Leavell, of Hamlet, NC; two great grands, Curstyn Short and NaRyan Johnson; brother-in-law, Johnny Yates (Doris) of Rockingham, NC; three special cousins, Stanley Jenkins, Jimmie Lee Walton, and Mary Frances Ruthledge; two special friends, Lee Thompson, and Robert Hines; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
