George Thomas Moss entered this life on December 9, 1945 and transitioned on March 4, 2021. He was born to the late Will Henry Moss and Ethel Beatrice Allen-Moss and was preceded in death by his brothers, Will Henry Jr, Jesse Moss, Robert “Snag” Moss, and Frank “Buck” Moss. George was the baby of six boys and was affectionally called “George Baby” by his mom.
George grew up in Clarksville, Tennessee and was a graduate of the Class of 1964 at Burt High School and he attended Tennessee State University. George was drafted in 1966, serving in the Air Force and was Honorably discharged in 1970. George worked several jobs; however, he built lasting friendships at Alladin, Consumers Drug Store, Weiss Liquor Store and MTA. George enjoyed reading the paper, watching football, spending time with his relatives, and eating home cooked meals. George retired from MTA in 2013.
George met the love of his life Barbara Jean Eubanks in 1970 at Draughon’s Business School in an English class. George was normally quiet and reserved but loved spending time with Barbara and playing cards with her and her cousins. George and Barbara were joined in marriage on June 24, 1971 at Little Mt. Zion Baptist Church. In January of 1973 they were expecting their first child and while Barbara was hoping to have a boy, God saw fit to bring them a girl, whom George named LaTonya.
George is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Barbara Jean; daughter, LaTonya Moss; granddaughter, Jazmyne LaTiyah Moss-Woodard; brother, Larnell Moss; nephews, Jesse Moss and Robert Moss (Maryland); nieces, Arlene Moss (California), Sandra Edwards (North Carolina), Rita Mangum (North Carolina) and Alrita Moss-Wilson (Clarksville) and a host other relatives and friends.
