In the afternoon of Wednesday, November 18th, 2020, an angel on earth was carried away to heaven to be with the Lord and loved ones already there... She was a faithful servant throughout her life, kind and compassionate always willing to help anyone in need... Georgia was 81 at the time of her death.
Georgia Hughes Adams, known to her siblings by the name, Deatcy was born April 16th, 1939, the youngest of eight children of Alfred and Eula Hughes. Georgia attended elementary school in Theta, Tennessee and graduated from Carver Smith High School in Columbia, Tennessee. After graduating from high school, Georgia
moved to Nashville, Tennessee and lived with her oldest brother, John and his wife.
Georgia found a job working at a department store called Mandell’s where she worked for years. She would, during this time, meet a young man that often frequented the store named Wesley Adams. People called him by his middle name Calvin. Georgia and Calvin dated, fell in love and were married for over 45 years until Calvin’s death in 2017. The couple had a son named Wesley Calvin Adams Jr.
Georgia was a woman of great faith and loved the Lord. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and loved her church. Georgia enjoyed attending church, working in the yard, finding hidden gems at great prices when shopping, refinishing furniture, talking for hours on the phone with her sisters and spending time with her family.
