Grover Calvin Scales was born to the later Grover Calvin Seay and Mary Louise Scales Lightfoot in Nashville, Tennessee on September 5, 1956. He departed this life on April 2, 2021 to be with his Lord and Savior.
Grover attended the Public School System in Davidson County during his sophomore year at East Nashville High School. Where he met his high school sweetheart, the former Brenda Gordon. Upon Grover’s junior year in high school he join the Army. Grover and Brenda have been together for 47 years and was married for 38 years, Grover worked for Baptist Hospital, Silver Sands Restaurant, Metro Parks and Recreation, Grover did construction work for 30 years until his health failed.
Grover was united in Holy Matrimony to Brenda Gordon on June 19, 1982. To this union 3 children. He is preceded in death by one daughter, Shavonda Shantaya and one son Donte’ Montez Scales. On June 19, 2016, Grover and Brenda renewed their Wedding Vows on their 34 Anniversary. On July 5, 2019 he joined Payne Chapel under the leadership of the Rev. Dr. W. Antoni Sinkfield. Grover’s favorite movie was “The Five Heartbeats.” The Temptations” and “James Brown’. He loved watching WWE Wrestling every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday nights.
He leaves to cherish his memories, a very Loving and Devoted Wife Brenda Scales, devoted son Santquan Cortez Scales. Five Sisters, Sandra Williams, Jackie Scales, Margie Scales, Inze Sanford (New York), Michelle Jones (Chicago), One Brother, Bobby (Yamianah) Scales (Tampa, FL), Mother-In-Law Margaret Drake, 4 Sisters-In-Laws; Marsha Gordon, Geraldine Avery, Marilyn Avery, Tamela (Flavel) Radus. Brother-In-Laws; Elder John (Juanita Finney) Morganfield KY, Joseph Avery, Charles (Anita) Drake, Brian (Nicole) Drake, Corey Drake. One very devoted Nephew/Son DeCarlos Scales, Terrell Williams, and Elder Sigmund (Shenell) Gordon. One devoted Niece; Lashundrea (LaMar) Woodson, One honorary Niece; Zenita Stephens, 5 honorary Grandchildren, and a host of uncles and aunts and other relatives and friends.
