Harry Donald Conwell of Madison transitioned from this earthly life to eternal life on Friday, December 12, 2014.
Born April 30, 1929 in Elkmont, Alabama, Harry Donald Conwell was one of sixteen children born to Thomas and Victoria Conwell. All fifteen of his siblings, including a twin brother, preceded him in death.
Mr. Conwell was united in Holy matrimony to the late Mary Elizabeth Holbert on April 22, 1948. From this union eight children were born. He confessed hope in Christ at an early age and, under the pastorate of the late Rev. C. L. Hoge, united with the Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.
For many years, Mr. Conwell worked at the Victory Chemical plant. He also worked for Athens Distributing Company until his retirement. A very loving and sociable individual, he never met a stranger. He especially loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. During holidays, a very special time for him, he wanted the whole family together.
As the last of Thomas and Victoria’s sixteen children to go home to be with the Lord, Mr. Conwell leaves to cherish his memory eight children: Robert (Jacqueline) Conwell, Doris (Charles) Ashley, Sherry Conwell, Valarie (Thomas) Harris, Vickie Eubanks, Pamela (Ronnie) Neal, William (Tiana) Conwell, and Steven ( Shanta) Conwell; twenty-four grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren; eleven great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and friends.
