James “Cephus” Durrett was born January 10, 1945 in White House, Tennessee to Booker Durrett and Novella Durrett. He departed this life on January 14, 2018.
James attended Bransford High
School and Pearl High School, where he was a star basketball player.
James was a master carpenter who dedicated his work to individuals in the Nashville and surrounding areas. He was an avid sherman, hunter, friend and father.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Booker and Novella Durrett; and brother, Mederith Durrett.
He leaves to cherish a wife, Martha Durrett; brother, Marshall (Ber- nice) Holland; sister, Hazel Durrett; cousin, Esther Knight; sons, Jimmy Durrett and Dale Durrett; devoted daughter, Monica Durrett; daughter, Barbara ( omas) Smith; grandsons, Nicholas Sharpe, Devin Durrett, omas Smith, Jeromy (Amanda) Durrett and DeCash Holt Durrett; granddaughters, Jada Durrett and Alexandria Smith; great grandson, Khyron Durrett; great granddaughter, Kaliyah Durrett; and a host of other cousins, relatives and friends; including special friend, Danana Morency.
