On Tuesday, March 25, 2014, James Edward North entered into a peaceful rest. James, affectionately known to many as “Banjo” and/or “Dr. North,” was born March 27, 1946 to the late parents Henry Edward North and Dorothy Jean Baugh.
James professed his hope in Christ at a young age at Friendship Baptist Church. He received his formal education through the Nashville Public School System where he graduated from Pearl High School in 1964.
In 1965, he served a tour of duty in the United States Army. While serving his country, he earned the rank of Specialist 4th Class. In 1967, he was honorably discharged from Korat, Thailand.
James North work for Metro Transit Authority from 1975 to 2005. After 30 years of service he retired .
James could always be found sitting in his front yard under the tree with his dog, Tiger enjoying time with his friends. He will be remembered for his quick wit, debonair style, comedic and lively spirit which will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife Shelly North, three children Erica North, Sheritha North and Dr. Jamie Ware (Avery); three stepchildren, Latonya Williams, Walter Williams, and Kimberly Williams; siblings, Geraldine North Williams, Wayne (Juanita “Necy”) North, Harold T. North, Doreen Timberlake, Terry Baugh Johnson (James), Jacqueline “Jackie” Baugh, Sharon Hale (Floyd), Deidra North Hayes, and Twylah North; grandchildren Clint Johnson, Justin Richardson, April Richardson, Paige Patton, Alexis Burrows, Haven Ware, Anthony Williams, thirteen others and five great grandchildren.
