James Douglas Willis

October 11, 1973 — April 9, 2020

James Douglas Willis, known by all as Doug, died peacefully at the age of 46 after a courageous battle with brain cancer.
Doug was born October 11, 1973 in Marlton, New Jersey to the late James Bruce Willis and Linda Bunning. He attended Big Springs High School in Newville, Pennsylvania where he graduated in 1992. Doug continued his education by obtaining his bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee at Martin. In 2008, he married the love of his life, Jamekra, and they went on to welcome an amazing daughter into the world a year later. In addition to being a devoted family man, Doug was also a dedicated and invaluable employee of the state of Tennessee for many years where he performed IT work for multiple agencies throughout his career most recently with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) as the IT manager. His belief in Jesus Christ was in the forefront of all that he did, and he was committed to helping others and fulfilling God’s purpose. He attended Cross Point Church until his health declined.
Doug will always be remembered for his unrelenting devotion to his wife and daughter, uncanny ability to make everyone he encountered feel like a life long friend, one of a kind sense of humor, inspiring positivity, infectious smile, powerful testimony and undeniable faith in the face of adversity. His dedication to living each day fully with an intentional effort to make the most of out of every experience elevated him to a life of no regrets. He fulfilled his journey and purpose here on Earth and has gained his wings to enjoy and eternity of blissful peace.
His memory will be cherished and kept alive by his loving wife, Jamekra Willis; adoring daughter Kaylee Willis, who was the light of his life; loving mother and stepfather, Linda and Leroy Bunning; devoted sister, Meg(Scott) Enslin; three step sisters, Louise (Bert) Shrecengost, Kathie (George) Vasseur, and Krissy (Mike) Farr; one step brother; Michael (Yolanda) Sikinger; committed mother and father in law, James and Ann Scates; two god children, Bryson Stowers and Nia Warlick; four sisters-in-law; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Doug was preceded in death by his father and stepmother, James Bruce and Lilian Willis; and his trusty companion Gage Buddy Willis (family dog).

The family wishes to thank all the amazing friends, family and coworkers who have supported us throughout this journey. A special thanks to Melinda Shipe, Dex and Nicole Gladney, Demia Kelly, Felipe Trott and Vafa Mansouri for being available to us for anything and everything throughout the diagnosis, treatment, decline and even now. We could not have gotten through this without you. We would also like to thank Alive Hospice for the exceptional care they provided to Doug during his last two weeks of life.
