Janice Dunn Lewis was born in Nashville, Tennessee on August 13, 1949 to the late Sylvester and Lois R. Dunn. Janice graduated from Cameron High School in 1967 and attended both Howard University in Washington, D.C. and Tennessee State University (TSU) in Nashville, receiving her RN Nursing Degree from TSU in 1989. On December 27, 1969, she married her high school sweetheart, the late Reverend William Kirk Lewis, Sr. William and Janice were blessed with two loving and devoted children, Candice Michele Lewis and William Kirk Lewis, Jr. during their 19 years of marriage.
Janice was a registered nurse for over 25 years. Her generosity and kind heart were an inspiration not only to her family and friends, but also to her co-workers. Janice loved life and lived each day with integrity and taught her children and everyone that she came in contact with to do the same. It is the reason that she was so loved by many.
She loved cooking, scrapbooking, spending time with family and friends, and laughing in her spare time. Janice was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.
Janice is survived by her two children, Candice Michele Lewis and William Kirk Lewis, Jr; sister, Michelle Dunn Carter; brother, Louis (Diane) Dunn; aunt, Gloria (Booker) Poe; grandchildren, Domonique Jordan, Brandon Smithson, Kiara Lewis, and Jayda Lewis; great grandchildren Asante Tillman and Autymn Tillman; and a host of loving relatives and friends.
