Jerry Leon Bryant was born November 28, 1952 to the late Henry Church Bryant Sr. and Beatrice Boyd Bryant in Nashville, Tennessee. Jerry transitioned into eternal life on Saturday October 13, 2018 at Vanderbilt Hospital.
Jerry attended the public schools of Metro Davidson County, graduating from Central High School in 1971. Jerry furthered his education and attended Tennessee State University where he also played football.
Jerry joined Watson Grove Missionary Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership of the late Reverend Curtis W. Goodwin, Sr. He remained faithful until his health declined.
Jerry was a kind, caring, loving, and compassionate person. He was best known for his “dressing” abilities as he was always very well dressed. Jerry loved to tell jokes. At times you wouldn’t know if Jerry was serious or joking. He also loved football and basketball as he played both. Jerry was a true die heart Tennessee Titans Fan. He would often talk about the “Music City Miracle”. Jerry enjoyed the finer things in life as well. Jerry will always be known as one of the finest dressed men of South Nashville.
Jerry is preceded in death by his brothers; Freeman Boyd, Calvin “Cootie” Bryant, and William Bryant, sister: Lillian Bryant.
Jerry leaves to cherish memories, his children, Andre Morency, Jerry Bryant, Sherry Bryant, Jeriesha Moore, Shirvonnta Bryant, Jarrett Smith, and Justin Smith; grandchildren, Nathan, Jonathan, Jalen, Isaiah, JaMari, Imani, and Brysen; brothers, Harvey (Barbara) Boyd, Henry C. Bryant Jr., and Milton Bryant; sisters in-law, Shirley Boyd, Barbara Bryant, and Annetta Bryant; aunt, Elizabeth Bryant; a loving and devoted companion, LaVonda Hamilton; goddaughter, Alexis Jordan; a host of nieces, nephews; and numerous friends.
