Joe Edward Caruthers, was the oldest of seven children born to the late Joe Clarence Caruthers and Frances Rodgers Caruthers on September 22, 1949 in Nashville, Tennessee. He transitioned from this earthly life to eternal life on Saturday, September 17, 2016.
Joe was educated in Davidson County Public School System, and worked for many years for the Metropolitan Water Services until he became disable.
He was married to Olivia Caldwell Caruthers, and to this union one son was born, Joe Edward Caruthers, Jr., who preceded him in death. Also, was married to Evelyn Davis Caruthers.
On December 2, 1983 Joe was united in marriage to Pamela Stanton Caruthers.
Joe entered into his relationship with God at New Jerusalem Primitive Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.
Joe was also preceded in death by his brother, Charles Caruthers.
He leaves to cherish his memories, a devoted wife, Pamela Caruthers; children, Christopher (Noehmi) Stanton, Gregory Smith and Rochelle Smith; devoted siblings, Barbara (Fred) Johnson, Raymond (Alice) Caruthers, Melvin (Marilyn) Caruthers, Patricia Braden and William (Ann) Caruthers; grandchildren, Joiya, Decoryon and Alandra Caruthers, Christopher Stanton, Jr., and Trinity Wellington; uncle, Willie Bob (Maggie) Caruthers; aunts, Katherine White, Rebecca and Denise Caruthers; daughter-in-law, Tiffeny Caruthers; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
