John Edward Gentry was born on December 23, 1945 in Luster, Alabama to George & Ruth Gentry. John received his education Bethel School. He was a member of Ramsey Street Church of Christ. John worked for E.L. Bruce Lumber Yard for over thirty years, he was a dedicated worker until his health began to fail him.
John is preceded in death by his father, George Gentry; daughter, Loretta Gentry; brother, Paul Gentry; sisters, Ruby and Clara Gentry.
John leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Bessie M. Gentry; mother, Ruth Patterson; son, Waddell (Cynthia) Gentry; daughters, Meredith & Ivena Gentry; grandchildren, Demargio Cooper, Travis DeShawn, & Sandis Cooper III; great-grandchildren, Iyanna Cooper, Demargio Cooper Jr.; step mother-in-law, Robbie Gill; sister, Virginia Gentry; brothers, George (Maggie) Gentry, James (Mary Jane) Gentry, Joseph (Sandra) Gentry, Dennis (Judy) Gentry, & Ronnie Gentry, sisters-in-law, Gerris (Donald) Elliott, Shirley Holt, Barbara Holt, Felicia (Thaddeus) Yilton, Joyce Gill, Teresa Gill; brothers-in-law, Kenneth Holt and William Holt; adopted daughter, Marie Anderson; devoted aunt, Mattie Holt; devoted niece, Clara Rogers; devoted cousins, Kathleen, Annie Ruth, George Will; and a host of other relatives and friends.
