Linda Don (Red) James, passed away on March 10, 2024 due to illness. A mother, sister, auntie, and loving friend, Linda had a Listening ear and loving advice to everyone she knew.
Born in Onward, Mississippi on October 19, 1946, she shared many childhood stories with family and friends. She graduated from Henry Weather High School, in Rolling Fork, Mississippi in 1967. She moved to Nashville, TN after graduation and started her life.
Having worked at Vanderbilt Medical Center nearly 50 years, she didn’t want to retire when she turned seventy. She continued to work until 2023. She loved Vanderbilt and often told stories of her co-workers and patients.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother Henry and Gladys Johnson, sister Connie L. Johnson. She is survived by her three children Victoria A. Johnson, Linda Don Johnson, and son John Jay James, Jr. John’s 5 children gave her purpose in her later years, Johneshia, Kia, John, Alysia, and La’Teshia. Lind’s great-grands are Ziya, Jeremiah, Rayvon Jr., Kayceon, Elijah. Daughter in Law Monica D. James.
Her surviving siblings were a special part of her life throughout the years Henerene Johnson, Essie Edwards, and Gladys Johnson, Brother Charles (Petra) Von Johnson. The host of nieces and nephews were known and loved as if they were her children.
