Lula Mae Bryant (Henderson) was born on June 23, 1943 in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania to the parentage of the late Ira C. Henderson and Minnie Lee Henderson (McCoy) of Aliquippa, Pennsylvania. She was the third born of eight children. Preceding her in passing are husband, Robert Louis Bryant, Jr.; sisters Margie Henderson, Hattie Henderson, and Viola Bell; brother, Ira Henderson, Jr., brother-in-law, Cosby Bell and Robert Pitts.
She was united in Holy Matrimony to Robert Louis Bryant, Jr. on September 21, 1959. This union was blessed with four children, two sons; Robert Louis Bryant, III (Tre’) and Mark Anthony Bryant (Deceased); and two daughters, Karen Denise Bryant-Miller and Anita Kristine Bryant Brooks.
Lula Mae attended Indiana School of Automation in Indianapolis, IN; IBM System 36 Operations, Nashville, TN; IBM AS400 Computer Systems Operations, Nashville, TN, and Microsoft Access, New Horizons Computer Learning Center, Nashville, TN. In 1982, she continued her career at Fisk University where she worked as a Computer Analyst and continued to consult after her retirement. She was also a devoted member of Temple Baptist Church since the early 1980’s where she served as an usher and worked with the Temple food co-op, feeding hundreds across the city. There was never a person that Lula Mae met that was a stranger, she has always been kind and loving to everyone.
Lula Mai will be sorely missed by sisters, Dorothy Mae Pitts and Margaret Henderson; brother, Eula C. Henderson; children, Robert Louis Bryant, III (Deidre Bryant), Karen Denise Bryant Miller and Anita Kristine Bryant Brooks. Also surviving are ten grandchildren, Shante’ C. Bryant, Devalle Jovan Miller, Dauniqua L. Bryant, Dominique M. Miller, Dante’ M. Miller, Ebony M. Bryant, Aisha M. Bryant, Ricardo K. Hussey, Robert D. Brooks and Darrell C. Brooks; ten great-grandchildren, Kiera N. Bryant, Tariah A. Badwah, Robert L. Bryant, IV, Justice M. Teal, Zah’Ki R, Hussey-Fernandes, Kylee C. Peebles, Sire G. Teal, Ricardo K. Hussey, Jr., Raya Sunshine Hussey and Rylei K. Hussey; devoted sisters-in-law, Armelia Henderson, Mary F. Henderson (Frankie) and Barbara Ann Steele; devoted friends, Mamie Maddrey, Ruth Price, Christine West, Anna C. Wilson, Ben and Mary McClendon, John and Ruby Moore, Gladys Truss and Madine Hardison; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
