Lula Mae Hurt, Age 94 transitioned from this earthly life to eternal life on Saturday, February 19, 2023.
Lula Mae Thomas Hurt entered fully into the presence of GOD on February 19, 2023. GOD has blessed us with the precious gift of Lula Mae for 94 years.
Lula Mae was born November 24, 1928, in Savannah, TN to Lee Anna and Richard Ayers. She graduated from Pearl High School and Meharry Nursing School in Nashville, TN. She confessed Christ at an early age. Her Christian faith was an essential part of her life.
Every path Lula Mae took in her life, GOD was her leader. She was a strong, creative, elegant, wise, beautiful, giving woman. Lula Mae was known as a fabulous cook and seamstress.
Lula Mae was married to Cecil Thomas, to his union six children were added. Cecil died early in the marriage. Years later, when the children were teenagers, she married Wesley Hurt. With this union came two more teenagers. Later in her life she lost her second husband. Lula Mae lived a life full of love and peace.
Lula touched many lives in the 94 years GOD blessed her to travel this earth. Lula Mae and her nephew, Milton Ayers had a very close relationship when they were children and continued that relationship into adulthood. GOD gave her greatest gift you can receive in this life, LOVE. She loved and she was loved.
Lula Mae was preceded in death by her parents, Lee Anna and Richard Ayers; Sisters, Estella Hill, Ruby Couch, and Loubertha Perry; Brothers, Evolve Ayers and Melvin Ayers; Sons, Cecil Thomas Jr., John O’Neal Thomas, and Anthony Thomas; Granddaughter, Antika Hancock; Son-n-law, Brady Bolden and her very best friend, Christine Doss.
She leaves to cherish her memories daughters, Mary Bolden, Peggie Smith, Belinda Thomas, and Cynthia (Harold) Washington; Son, John (Brenda) Hurt; Cousin Geneva Chapman; 17 Grandchildren; 16 Great Grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, and other family, and friends; devoted friend, Carolyn Washington.
Lula Mae will be truly missed – We love her and always will.
The funeral procession will depart from Highland Hills Funeral Home, 2422 Brick Church Pike, Nashville, TN 37207 at 12:00 Noon for the Nashville National Veterans Cemetery in Madison, TN.
