As God was deciding on miracles to share that would forever brighten the lives of others; In his infinite wisdom blessed Brenda and Marcus Jordan with their fourth bundle of joy. On June 29, 1972, after being blessed with three darling daughters they finally heard the doctor say “It’s a boy!”
It was at that time that Marcus Lee Jordan, Jr. made his grand entrance onto the stage of life and for the next 46 years he performed with excellence as he strutted to the beat of a different drummer! Being the only boy in the house he was pampered and spoiled by his mother and sisters. Thankfully he grew up to return the favor in a most magnificent away as he honorably became the patriarch, protector, and provider for the family and everyone else that he came in contact with.
Marcus received his elementary and middle school education in the public school system of Davidson County. In 1990 he became a proud member of the graduating class of Maplewood High School in Nashville Tennessee. Upon graduation he enrolled at Cumberland University in Lebanon, Tennessee to begin his quest for additional knowledge. He later decided to continue his studies at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Marcus loved Murfreesboro and Murfreesboro loved Marcus. Therefore, he made Murfreesboro his home and spent the last 27 wonderful years of his life there blessing everyone who he came in contact with.
Marcus understood as a young man that this world was not his home and began making preparations for a new home not made by hand. He gave God his heart and the preacher his hand and became a faithful member of the Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church in Murfreesboro Tennessee. He was a very active and much loved member of the congregation. He served wherever he was needed and assisted without being asked. Having a heart for the youth in the community and the church he became one of the instructors and inspirations in the J.A.M. (Jesus and Me) Youth Ministry that was introduced by Pastor Mayes and directed by Rhonda McFerrin. The children, youth and young adults gravitated to Marcus because of his magnetic and humorous personality. He had the ability to relate to the kids and understand things from their perspective because he often took on the personna of a big kid himself. Many of the children that he taught and influenced our young adults with their own families now and they often reflect on the positive impact that he had in their lives. On a weekly basis, with as many as 100 kids coming for this Bible study, life skills, and positive interaction training many of participants came because they knew that they would get a great meal as well. Marcus often took it upon himself to provide the meal for the week. The last major trip that the kids enjoyed was a weekend spent at Six Flags over Georgia he anonymously sponsored the van. There was nothing too good for the children in his life.
This was very obvious as he joyously showered this same love and commitment upon his nieces and nephews.
The ultimate source of happiness in his life For the last 13 years has been his little angel and the apple of his eye Ta Myah! After faithfully being such a positive influence and role model for other children God blessed him with a loving daughter of his own. There was nothing too good for his baby and fittingly so, she was the last one to see his smile, feel his touch, and to hear his loving voice.
He later united with the Olive Branch Baptist Church where he remained a faithful member until God called him home.
Marcus was not afraid to try his hand in anything. He felt that he was the greatest cook in the world and would boldly invite anyone to try his larger than life meals. Everyone knew when he showed up that there was going to be some laughter, jokes, and memories created because he was the life of any gathering, event, or party. He truly loved family; his family by birth and everyone else who he encountered had an opportunity to receive unconditional love because he would certainly treat you as family. It is our belief that there has never been a bigger Dallas Cowboy fan than Marcus L Jordan! You would be hard-pressed to find a picture that he does not have some kind of Cowboy attire or paraphernalia on. And just because you could not see it did not mean that he was not adorned in something with a star or a Cowboy picture on it. He was not selfish with his cowboy apparel because if he thought that you remotely like the Cowboys he would make sure that a person would know before they got to you that you were a Cowboys fan. His daughter can be seen in many pictures from infancy to her teenage years dressed in her cowboy garb because her daddy left her no choice and who her team would be. He faithfully traveled to several Dallas Cowboy games each season and regardless To whether they were winning or struggling he remained loyal. That was just the kind of person he was!
How bout “Dem Boyz”, was what you would hear coming from him when they were winning and when they were experiencing the other side of the coin he would proudly say “Dem still my Boyz!”
For 24 years and 3 months he was a dedicated, loyal, and energetic team member at General Mills Inc. formerly Pillsbury in Murfreesboro Tennessee. He loved his job and those that he worked with. He became family, counselor, confidant, and a source of inspiration to many of the employees at General Mills. Marcus was also instrumental in recommending, referencing, and encouraging others to join the General Mills/Pillsbury team.
On Monday, January 14, 2019 much to our shock and sorrow God decided to pick a beautiful flower from his personal garden and he called the angel that we knew asMarcus home to rest from his labor.
Left to Cherish his Memory and to Celebrate his Legacy are: His only daughter Ta Myah Jordan; a loving mother Mrs. Brenda Jordan and stepfather; Anthony Holt. His dedicated Sisters: Tracy (Todd) Flowers, Tonya (Randy) Allen, Marcia and Yasmine Jordan will forever be grateful to have been able to call him brother. Awesome New Heaven and a New Earth
Revelation 21, 1-7
21 Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth”, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death ‘or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away. “He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true. “He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life. Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my children.
