Marva Ethel Hardin, was born October 16, 1946 to the late Homer and Agnes Olivia Hardin in
Charlotte Tennessee (Dickson County). She departed this life on March 14,2024 while
surrounded by those she loved.
She began her Christian experience at an early age at McGavock Chapel A.M.E church where
she joined and participated in the Jr choir.
She attended Cedar Grove elementary in Charlotte Tennessee, attended Hampton High School
Dickson Tennessee, where she played basketball as captain of the team; she was also a
majorette during football season throughout her four years at Hampton High. During segregation
Marva was one of eight students who participated in the segregation of the Woolworth 5&10
store in downtown Dickson. She also attended Tennessee State University.
Marva was a woman of fashion, she loved music and was an entrepreneur in the milinary world
creating stylish hats along with her sister in law Mary Etter who opened a hat shop in-the Kelly
Miller Smith towers. She was her husband, Charles, biggest fan, encouraging all to come to his
performances.
Marva was preceded in death by her brother Douglas A Hardin of Nashville Tennessee , sister
Treva J Perkins of Nashville Tennessee. She leaves to cherish her memories, devoted
husband, Charles Walker, son Thomas Terrell Pendergrass, stepdaughter Jerena Webber,
sisters Mary Robertson of Columbus, Ohio, Sanna J (Dennis Robinson)of Nashville Tennessee,
in-laws Jerry Perkins, Mary (Al) Etter, Christine Acklen, Juanita Walker, she was preceded in
death by brother in-laws Richard and Eddie Walker, sister-in-law Yvonne Granberry, she also
leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins,devoted friends Shirley Walker-Lewis Willie
Armstrong and many others who loved her.
