Obituary
Michael A. Perry, Sr., was born in Nashville, Tennessee, to the late Willis Marshall Perry and Mary Alice Perry Whitworth and stepfather, the late William Whitworth. He was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Regina C. Perry. Michael unexpectedly departed this life on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Skyline Hospital, Nashville, Tennessee.
Michael was the fourth of five children; two have preceded him in death— brother, Willis A. Perry, Sr., and sister, Kathie R. Williams.
He was educated in the Davidson County School system and attended Pearl Senior High School. Michael was employed as a cook for 27 plus years at Skyline Medical Center (formerly Memorial Hospital). He was serious about his work, loved his job at Skyline and even more so loved to cook.
On September 13, 1972 Michael was united in Holy Matrimony to Regina and from that union was born Michael and Gabrielle. While Michael certainly loved his children, what was abundantly clear was the love he had for his grandchildren.
Michael professed his love for Christ while in his youth and was baptized at the New Hope Baptist Church in Nashville, TN, then under the direction of the Late Reverend J. L. Grimmett. We are blessed to have him added to the angels that God has provided to watch over us.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving family: son, Michael A. Perry, Jr., and a very devoted daughter, Gabrielle D. Perry, both of Nashville, Tennessee; sisters, Teresa L. Carter (Dr. William Carter) of Lawton, OK, and Grace Perry-Gaiter, Esq., of Washington, DC; six grandchildren, Justin Haynes, La’Darius Perry, Jeremiah Sublett, La’Keya Perry, Michael Kennedy, Jr. and Jayden Perry; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and other devoted family and friends.
