Monroe was preceded in death by his parents, Monroe J. II and Emma Gene McCord; sister, Josephine McCord Blackman; and brother, Frank Neece.
He leaves to cherish his memories, a loving and devoted wife of 34 years, Ella M. McCord; children, Chandra Mimms, Maurice McCord and Camille (Harold) Peters; stepchildren, Meredith (Dave) Mundle, Melanie Owens-Russell, Mark (Minyon) Owens and Michael Owens; 28 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren; brothers & sisters in law, Charles (Barbara) Owens, Anita (James) Taylor, Beverly Jenkins, Barry Mimms, Benjamin (Patricia) Mimms, Brian (Angel) Mimms, Brendon Mimms and Bethrena Mimms; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
