Ms. Mora Jean Simpson Armstrong was born on September 9, 1934, to the late James and Elizabeth Simpson. She transitioned to the Lord on October 21, 2021.
Jean as she was affectionally called, was educated in Metro Nashville Public School system. Upon graduating from Pearl High School, she began working at Genesco Shoe Company and later worked as a nurse technician at Baptist Hospital.
Over the years, Jean became a faithful member of Cleveland Street Missionary Baptist Church and was very active in many social and community activities. She was a member of the Women’s Ministry, Beautifying Club, and the Valiant Ladies, LTD., Sophisticated Models and participated in social events around the city of Nashville. Jean was known for her statuesque beauty and excellent fashion sense of style. She was a participant is several fashion shows and became one of the favorite participants.
Jean was proceeded in death by her parents, James and Elizabeth Simpson, siblings Richard Simpson, Anne Booker, Allen Simpson and devoted companion, Wade Phelps.
She leaves to mourn cherished memories, her devoted children, Irvin B. Oten, III (Teresa), and Tessa Rhodes. Grandchildren, Donessa Rhodes, Irvin Oten, and Tiera Rhodes. Great-grandchildren, Timari Rhodes and Tahmir Rhodes, and Dominique Childs, Jr. Nieces Andrea Holt (Edward), Beverly Simpson, Sheila Simpson and nephew Allen Simpson, Jr.
Devoted friends, Elaynne Parker and Lorece Gore and a host of other relatives and friends.
