“My father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” John 14:2-3
Patricia Ann Bridges Armstrong peacefully passed away on December 3, 2023. Born on April 25, 1947, in Nashville, Tennessee, she was the beloved, youngest daughter of the late Hal E. and Dorothy C. Bridges. She was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Larry E. Armstrong Sr., and sister, Dorothy Jean (Jeanne) Bridges Lawson. She received her primary education in the Nashville Public Schools and graduated from Cathedral of the Incarnation High School. At an early age, she professed her faith in Christ and was baptized at Spruce Street Baptist Church. As an adult, she joined Redeeming Love Christian Center in Nanuet, New York, and traveled with the congregation to Israel where she was baptized in the Jordan River.
Pattie, as she was affectionately known, was a graduate of Tennessee State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Social Work. Later she earned a Master of Science in Special Education from Vanderbilt’s George Peabody College and a Master of Social Work from Adelphi University’s School of Social Work in Hempstead, New York.
As a social worker, Pattie was a tireless advocate, eloquent meditator, and agent of change on behalf of children and families in the Stamford Public School system in the State of Connecticut for 32 years. She helped parents understand the needs of their children. She worked closely with school staff ensuring all children received services. Commitment to students continued well after they transitioned from secondary education into adulthood.
Following in the footsteps of her older sister Jeanne, Pattie became a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.'s Alpha Chi Chapter. Her passion for service continued throughout her life and career. She also volunteered at Connecticut’s Parent Leadership Training Institute, a program that enables parents to become advocates for their children.
Pattie loved to travel with family and friends. She loved music, listening to audiobooks, and family history. She never forgot a birthday, loving and acknowledging all of those around her. She enjoyed good restaurants and Marriott Resorts, where she was a proud platinum member. Pattie was a loving daughter and sister, beloved wife, cherished mother, and devoted “Nene.” She was deeply loved by family and friends.
