Reflections
Ray Anthony Sanders was born February 18, 1958 to the union of Shirley Lee and James "Frank" Sanders. He departed this life on March 11, 2021 at Tri-Star Centennial Hospital surrounded by loved ones. After talking with cousins and friends on the phone, he couldn't talk anymore so he nodded his head and blinked his eyes to confirm he heard the words of love being spoken to him and he loved his callers in return.
Those of us who knew Ray well, knew he was always "into something" during his formative years. He was known to have nine lives (at least). Whenever he was asked how he was doing, his response was ALWAYS “Everyday above ground is a good day”!
Loved ones left behind to mourn him are his Life Partner of 25 years, Wilamenia Thomas; their daughter, Ebony Sanders and step-daughter, Donzalay Thomas;
siblings, that cherish his memories are sisters: Gloria Sanders Rose (John), Beverly Williams (Kerry) Vincent Sanders, Terrance Gray and Keith Puckett; a host of nieces and nephews will miss "Unc". devoted cousin, Timmy Sanders (always at Ray's side) and many others that called regularly to check on Ray, especially “Blue” (Squinky);devoted friends, that helped Ray during his times of need, William "Mr. Bill" Allen, Henry "Earl" Hester, Lewis Gordon, Myron Buchanan and his "cut up" partner; Mary Anderson (Ms. Spicy) and Louise Phillips (Mama Louise). There are many more residents at John Glenn and Alsup Arbors that helped Ray, too numerous to mention here, but our thanks are extended to you, as well as cousins from Spring Hill, Tn. and one uncle Louis Sanders (Easy) from Detroit, Michigan.
DUE TO COVID-19, A FACE MASK IS REQUIRED, UPON ENTRY OF THE FUNERAL HOME, TEMPERATURES WILL BE CHECKED AND PLEASE KEEP SOCIAL DISTANCE IN MIND AT ALL TIMES.
