Mr. Robert L. Edmondson known as “Dog” was born in Nashville, TN on January 18, 1942. He was the son of the late Edward Edmondson and Bessie Shelton Edmondson. He passed peacefully at 10:00 a.m., April 6, 2016 following a short illness.
Robert spent his entire life in Nashville being educated in the Davidson County School System, NCI School. Robert professed his faith in Jesus Christ at an early age at Whites Creek Pike Church of Christ.
He was employed with Staufer Chemical Company for a number of years before becoming a self-employed professional painter.
He was a quiet man and loved everybody. His favorite music and artist was Kim Burrell.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Edward Edmondson, Donald Edmondson and Willie Edmondson; and sister, Margaret Bass.
He leaves to cherish his memories a devoted wife of 51 years, Gloria Edmondson; devoted children, Fran Edmondson, Yvette Edmondson, and Robbie Fredd; devoted grandchildren, April Fredd, Andre Patterson Jr., Jameka Nelson, Kameka Nelson, Kayla Fredd, Chelsea Fredd, Cierra Patterson, James Nelson Jr; great grandchildren, Aminah Fredd, Julian Madsion Jr., and Jaden Nelson; sisters, Ruthie Dennis, Vivian Strong of Indianapolis, IN; six sisters-in-law, a host of nieces and nephews; devoted nieces, Shelia (John) Royster and Claudette Dennis; devoted cousins, Robert (Emma) Mitchem, German (Cheryl) Adams; devoted friend, Vevlon McMurry; devoted cousin, Gwendolyn Baines; best friend, John L. Howard of Denver, CO and many friends from Disciples Village.
Public viewing Tuesday, April 12, 2016 from 1-6pm at Highland Hills Funeral Home, 2422 Brick Church Pike.
Visitation Wednesday, April 13, 2016 from 11AM-12 noon with funeral to follow at Highland Hills Funeral Home, 2422 Brick Church Pike with Elder Darryl M. Taliaferro, Officiating and Pastor N. Curtis Bryant, Eulogist.
Interment in Greenwood North Cemetery.
