Robert Lee Sargent

February 9, 1951 — February 28, 2019

Robert Lee Sargent, age 68, of Nashville, TN passed away peacefully on February 28, 2019 with his beloved wife of 38 years Cynthia Sargent by his side.

Robert was born February 9, 1951 and received his education at Pearl and East High Schools. As an adult, Robert enjoyed playing in the basketball league at McFerrin Community Center in East Nashville.

He and his family were long time members at Original Church of God under the leadership of Elder George Price. Robert was active in the church for many years as a member of the male chorus.

For over 30 years, Robert worked in the medical field at Millers Clinic and Centennial Medical Center as a Patient Care Technician.

Robert loved Motown and old school music. He and his wife Cynthia spent many evenings laughing and dancing to the Temptations, Gladys Knight and the Pips, Smokey Robinson, Rick James, the Whispers, and many other groups from that era.

He was passionate about sports, especially basketball and football. He enjoyed the Tennessee Titans and was a huge fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Robert believed in dressing to impress. He was a perfectionist about his clothing and was committed to detailing his car and keeping it immaculate. This dedication to looking good sometimes extended to his family members. Often when he saw his sister-in-law Janet Lavender he would look her up and down and then tease her by declaring “Girl, what is WRONG with your hair??”

Robert was a dedicated family man. He was devoted to his aunt Viola Rogers and was a wonderful father and grandfather. He dearly loved his children Peaches, Tosha, and Wayne and adored all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His children have fond memories of visits with their father to his favorite restaurant – Burger King. It was always amusing to them when their father would go through the drive-thru and yell out his favorite meal of a Whopper, Fries, and a Large Drink to the attendant. The drive-thru attendant would ask “Sir, why are you hollering??” and Robert would always yell back as loud as he could “I am NOT hollerin’!”

Robert was preceded in death by his mother and father Mary Elizabeth and Robert Peter Sargent and brother Donnie Isaiah Sargent. Robert leaves to cherish his memory loving and devoted wife Cynthia Sargent, three children Tijuana “Peaches” (Jacques’) Sargent-Cabell, Tosha (Shannon) Gordon, and Alex Wayne Miller, four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, devoted cousin Barbara “Bobbie” Brooks, devoted friend Ronald Eugene Lewis, devoted sister-in-law Jacqueline Milan, and a host of other relatives and friends.
