Rodney B. Hayes

September 15, 1954 — February 22, 2019

Rodney B. Hayes, 64, entered into eternal rest on February 22, 2019. Preceded in death by parents, Roosevelt Hayes, Sr. and Irene Hayes. Brother Roosevelt Hayes, Jr. and Smoke his beloved cat.

Rodney was educated in the Davidson County School System, graduating from North High School in 1977. He was a veteran of the United States Army where he received an honorably discharged in 1982. He was a repairman of teletypewriter and electro-mechanical typewriters.

Big Ron, Tree Top Lover, Big Foot and Gentle Giant were his nicknames.

Born in Nashville, TN. Graduated from Stratford High School in 1972. There he developed interest in current events, comics, and classic cars. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting with his cousins.

Big Ron was known as a spell-binding Master Storyteller, as well as having a photographic memory. He was an avid reader, accomplished writer with questions and opinions in the Tennessean, on the Editors Page.

At age nineteen he started working for Werthan Industries where he retired after 44 years.

He leaves to cherish his memory sister, Joannie (L.T.) McClendon; nephews, Jeff (Cherese) and Daniel (LaSonia); cousins, Juanita Braden, Yolanda Braden, Will Dalton, and Van Davidson; devoted cousin, Yvon “Mother Hen” Kelani, Jerry, Maurice, and James Davidson, and a host of cousins and other relatives and friends.
