Age 69, transitioned from this earthly life to eternal life on Monday, July 16, 2018.
Rufus was born February 20, 1949 to the Reverend Owen and Ochie Hunter. He was the seventh child out of fifteen children.
Rufus professed his hope and love of Christ at an early age and he was a member of Faith Is The Victory Church.
Rufus attended schools at Meigs and Haynes. He was an entertainer that sung with many artist around the city of Nashville. He wrote and produce many songs. Rufus was deeply inspired by his mentor and producer, Ted Jarrett.
Rufus was preceded in death by brother, Ronald Leonard Herbert; and sister, Barbara Marilyn.
Rufus leaves to cherish his memories, a wife, Beverly A. Hunter of 48 years; sons, Michael Rufus, Jr., and Christopher Jones; daughters, Sanshemia Jenkins, Dr. Karen Daniel (Don), Minister Tonya Teeters and Sonia Merrell; sisters, Linda Robinson, Gwendolyn Smith, Sheila Lavender, Teresa (Roger) Lofton and Yolanda Hunter; brothers, Tony (Anita) Hunter and Michael (Gail) Hunter; 23 grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Kathleen Gordon; sisters-in-law, Joyce Menzies and Lisa Gordon; brothers-in-law, Michael Gordon and Donald Gordon.
