Sharon Rochelle Overton was born in Moss Point Mississippi on December 4, 1949 to loving parents Eartha and Eddie Green.
Sharon was educated in the public schools of Jackson County, and was a proud graduate of Magnolia High school. Sharon then went on to attend college in Nashville TN and graduated from Tennessee State University. Sharon obtained her bachelor degrees in Sociology (1970), Education (1993) and one unknown field in 1991. Sharon continued her studies in education and obtained her Master's degree in 1999.
While attending TSU, Sharon met and later married her beloved husband William A. Overton Sr in 1971. They started a family and gave birth to two boys, William “Al”, and Jelani “Lonnie” Overton.
Sharon worked several years in finance before blessing the field of education, where she taught Special Education for 21 years until retiring.
Sharon was Methodist, and had a strong relationship with God. Sharon was a warm hearted, generous and caring person, but most of all she was a student of life and always willing to share her wisdom. Sharon was a avid reader and after retiring, she loved to watch her shows! Lastly Sharon enjoyed adding that coastal flavor to her dishes, her gumbo, catfish and banana pudding were unmatched.
Sharon was loved and will be missed dearly.
On July 27th, Sharon Rochelle Overton leaves behind to cherish her memory: husband, William A. Overton Sr, son William A. (Veronica) Overton Jr, grandchildren Kayla, Myles Overton, Sister-in-Law/ close friend Dorothy Beasley. As well as cousins, nephews, and friends throughout the country.
